The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the polling time for today's 20th Parliamentary elections will not be extended.

The EC and the police held a joint press conference last night to provide the latest information on the parliamentary elections. During the press conference, EC Chairman Fuwad Thaufeeq noted that voting will begin at 8:00 am and continue till 5:30 pm.

Fuwad said no further opportunity would be given to vote after the deadline, announcing that the polling time will not be extended.

He had appealed all to vote during polling hours.

A total of 284,663 people are eligible to vote in the parliamentary elections. They are 145,302 males and 284,663 females. 602 ballot boxes will be set up for the election. There are 181 polling stations in the city, 51 in Hulhumale and nine in Villimalé. 319 polling stations are set up in the Atolls.
