President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured the people that a parliament comprising government candidates will produce results for the people.

Speaking at a rally at the Artificial Beach in Male after wrapping up the campaign for PPM/PNC, the President stated that the parliament can hinder the works of the government, adding that if government-backed candidates are not elected, planned projects will be disrupted.

He said he wanted to produce results and the pace of development would be many times faster if the government candidates were elected to parliament.

Reiterating that Parliament can bring the government to a halt, the President said if the parliamentary majority is given to one other than the government ideology, they will act according to the principles of the party to which they belong to, eventually letting the people and the country suffer the consequences.

"I only care about the result. I think the people will only care about the result too. I don't want to waste a second in producing those results. Make tomorrow's vote count towards that," he said.
