Special Advisor to the President, Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said that the High Court decision shows that the current Administration does not influence the judiciary in any way.

High Court on Thursday overturned Criminal Court's 11-year sentence to Yameen over money laundering and bribery charges. The Court also dissolved the MVR 5 million fine levied on Yameen by the Criminal Court.

Abdul Raheem Abdulla thanked President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in a post on X over the High Court's decision to free Yameen.

"You have ensured that every citizen in the Maldives will get justice. You have shown that your Administration does not influence the judiciary in any way," Abdul Raheem Abdulla said.

He added that the Maldives needs a leader who stays true to his word.

Speaking to media outside of the High Court after the ruling, Yameen said that it is not an issue that Abdul Raheem Abdulla is thanking the President for the way things turned out, but that High Court's decision is not a show of how just the current Administration is.

He further added that the ruling was delayed by President Dr. Muizzu.
