The work on installing additional elevators in Hiyaa Towers has begun according to HDC.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Minister of Housing Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haider Ahme inaugurated the project at a ceremony held at the Hiyaa Tower Courtyard today.

A total of 32 elevators will be installed under the project. There is an additional passenger and stretcher lift in each tower.

The project was awarded on February 14, 2024 by HDC to Chinese company Shenyang Yuan Intellectual Group. The company was awarded the contract to complete the work within one year.

The budget for this year included MVR 200 million to add elevators to the towers, but did not say how much the project was awarded for.

Speaking at the ceremony, Haider said the work would be completed within a year. In the next projects, facilities will be installed for people to carry goods and for those who need to load and unload stretcherrs, he said.

"We will set up facilities for this in the next projects. One of the two elevators will be large enough to carry a stretcher," Haider said.
