Elections Commission (EC) has begun sending out ballot papers and other administrative resources to election centres ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday.

Speaking to National Advisory Committee, EC member Hassan Zakariyya said that the commission began the process early Tuesday morning.

As such, the ballot papers for AA. ADh. V. M. F. and Dh. Atoll were sent via sea while Th. L. GA. GDh. Fuvahmulah and Addu City's ballot papers were sent via air.

Zakariyya said that ballot papers and administrative resources will be sent to HA. HDh. Sh. N. R. B. and Lh. Atoll on Wednesday. He added that once the Atoll councils receive the material, it would be distributed to the islands on Friday. Zakariyya further added that the ballot papers will be sent to industrial islands and abroad by Saturday.

The parliamentary election ballot boxes will be placed in India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia this round, and officials will arrive by Friday, EC said.

Zakariyya said that the ballot boxes and security boxes will be sent to the islands alongside EC staff, monitored by police service.

A total of 284,663 people can vote in the Parliamentary elections this time. EC said that with 368 candidates contesting for 93 constituencies, there will be over 600 ballot boxes placed for the elections.
