Hanimaadhoo International Airport has commenced international flights after a year-long hiatus.
The international flights were discontinued as part of the airport development project.
Regional Airports Company Ltd. said that the company's aim is to ensure that there are no disruptions to the services at the airport. However, in order to complete the airport development project as per schedule, the international flights had to be discontinued, the company said.
Regional Airports Company Ltd said that international flights are scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays at Hanimaadhoo International Airport.
As part of the airport development project, 1,200 metres of the new 2,445 metre runway has been developed and opened for operation on 12 April.
Regional Airports Company Ltd added that the runway will be completed by end of this month and the airport development will be completed by November this year.
