Elections Commission (EC) has begun investigating a demand made at a PNC rally to ensure that all Felivaru staff vote for the PNC's candidate at the upcoming parliamentary elections.

EC's Secretary General Hassan Zakariyya told 'One' on Sunday that the Commission had received a report of the incident and is investigating the issue. EC said any and all necessary action will be taken after the Commission completes its investigation.

The incident occurred during a rally in Lh. Hinnavaru last Friday night.

During the rally, PNC's parliament candidate for Kinbidhoo constituency Ahmed Abdul Rahman, who had previously also contested for Hinnavaru constituency, had said all Felivaru staff including those who support the opposition should be asked to vote for the PNC candidate and that unless their jobs are threatened, it would be challenging to win the seat. He added that Mohamed Abdul Rahman, who is contesting for Hinnavaru constituency should have the power to control Felivaru staff.

While the issue has been reported to EC by an individual, STO's former MD Hussain Amr has also said the issue has been reported to EC as well.
