Heavy rains have caused flooding in 57 places in Malé city since this evening.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in a post today that sandbags are being placed at 57 places where flooding was reported.

The MNDF is working to drain the water by installing pumps in the flooded areas. Sandbags are also being placed at 14 houses in the city.

Maldives Meteorology has issued a Yellow Alert from Haa Alif Atoll to Faafu Atoll.

Heavy rain and thundershowers are expected during these hours.
