MDP's Advisor and former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said the Party will support the Hulhumeedhoo-Hulhudhoo bridge project in Addu.
Speaking at a campaign rally of one of MDP's contestant's for the upcoming parliament election, Solih said that Addu bridge project is one of the pledges by the current government.
"The current Government is making development pledges including the Addu bridge project. There should be some order to these projects and we will support the Administration in this. Our MP's will support the current Government within the parliament," Solih said.
He said that prior to developing the Addu bridge, the current Government should provide reasons for the residents to travel via a bridge. Solih added that the most important thing is to create employment opportunities in the atoll and to bring economic development to the people. Solih further added that the former government had worked towards that goal.
MDP's plan for the Addu bridge included ensuring economic development in the region, Solih said. As such, he added that it is crucial for MDP to win Addu seats in the parliament to provide check and balance.
He further added that MDP's government had initiated development projects in Addu city, urging the current Government to begin the projects without further delay.
