Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel has said that it is important to consider health as a fundamental right when organising things.
In his address on the occasion of World Health Day today, Khaleel said that while celebrating this year's World Health Day under the theme “My Health - My Right”, health should be seen as a right of everyone and we should think deeply and broadly about it.
Health or the right to health is often thought of as health care and services available in hospitals and health centers, he said, adding that there is often no thought about the factors that lead to healthy health or the role of individuals in ensuring health as a right.
Noting that with every right comes a responsibility, he said that to ensure the right to health and to remain healthy through personal and family life, health care, diet, and behavior, we need to identify what can and should be done at an individual level.
It is the responsibility of the entire state to ensure and protect the right to health through laws and regulations, government policy, mandates, work plans, and implementation mechanisms of various state institutions, he said.
