More than 1,300 plots of land allocated under the Binveriyaa Scheme from Giraavarufalhu are to be transferred to Gulhifalhu.

The Housing, Land and Urban Development Ministry said in an announcement today that land has been allocated under the scheme without allocating enough land for essential services in the area.

Therefore, the ministry has decided to transfer some of the land to Gulhifalhu, as the land use plan of Giraavarufalhu has been changed.

1,347 plots of land will be transferred from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu. The number and size of the plots are:

- 193 lots of 1250sqft

- 663 lots of 1650sqft

- 487 lots of 2050 sqft

- 4 lots of 2450sqft

The ministry said those who received land of that size from Giraavarufalhu will have the opportunity to apply for transfer of land to Gulhifalhu through the Hiyaavehi portal from tomorrow till the 14th of this month. If more than the stipulated number of applications are made, the applicants will be determined by drawing lots and the date will be announced by the ministry later.

The ministry has published the land use plan on its website and hiyaavehi portal.

During the previous government, 9,001 plots of land were allocated in the first round from Hulhumale Phase 2, Hulhumale Phase 3, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu. They are 1,351 plots in Hulhumale, 2,219 plots in Gulhifalhu and 5,433 plots in Giraavarufalhu.
