Parliament Committee on Human Rights is investigating the bullying and assault of a child in the toilet of a mosque in Alif Alif Atoll Rasdhoo.

A video posted on social media yesterday shows the child being attacked by a group of four children inside a mosque's toilet. However, it is unclear what caused the clash.

Police said a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were involved in the case. The case is being investigated as a serious one, police said yesterday.

Parliament Human Rights Committee Chair, Jeehan Mahmood told some media that the committee would consider the matter as a motion by the presidency.

Police spokesman Ahmed Shifan said in a post on X that a team comprising officials from the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Department of Juvenile Justice is currently operating in Rasdhoo.
