People's National Front (PNF) spearheaded by former president Yameen Abdul Gayoom has been given the go-ahead by Election Commission (EC) to hold the first party meeting.
In a post on X, former Communication Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal who played a pivotal role in party foundation said that EC has granted approval to hold the first party meeting and that former president Yameen's reform work will continue without a hitch.
EC said on Thursday that as per the Political Party Act, PNF had gathered the required 3,000 signatures to form the party and as such the latter had been given the go-ahead to hold their first meeting.
Yameen's son Zain Abdulla Yameen was given the approval to form a political party on 29 November 2023. Yameen left PPM on 23 November 2023.
PNF has been holding rallies and has members contesting for parliament in the upcoming elections.
