Ahmed Ashfan has been appointed as the Deputy Controller of Immigration.

Immigration confirmed Ashfan's appointment as Deputy Controller in a Facebook post last night. Ashfan has worked as an immigration officer for more than 18 years.

Ashfan is the brother of famous football player, Ali Ashfaq (Dhagandey). Ashfan, who also spent time in the national team with his brother, appeared as a defender. Ashfan was also part of the national squad that helped the Maldives win the 2008 CAF Championship for the first time.

Apart from the national team, Ashfan has also played for major first-division clubs. Ashfan has also played for Victory Sports Club, VB Sports Club, BG Sports Club and Green Streets.
