Public Works Minister Adam Shareef has said that work is under way to repair and open the fountain in Republic Square for Eid.

In a post on X, Minister Adam Shareef said that the repair works have been requested by President Dr. Mohamed Muiz ahead of Fitr Eid.

He said that although the initial plan was to open the fountain ahead of Ramadan, there was a lot of wear and tear and so work is ongoing to revamp the fountain for Eid.

The fountain was built by MTCC in lieu of the 50th Independence Day celebrations during former president Yameen's tenure.
