President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Parliament needs to pass more than 200 laws to fulfill the pledges included in the ruling party's manifesto.
Speaking at a rally held at Hiyaa Park in Hulhumale' yesterday, the President said the cooperation of the parliament was essential to fulfill the promises he made to the people. The President said some of the projects he planned to start this year have not started due to budget constraints.
The President said the government is already facing obstructions in what it wants to do for the people through the parliament. He further stated that if such people get a majority in parliament, he will not be able to do anything he has decided to do for the development of the people. Therefore, he asked the people to think deeply about it and vote in the parliamentary elections.
The President further alleged that MDP is lying by saying that the projects started by the previous government have been stopped. As such he noted that a total of 527 projects are still underway.
He said the MDP accuses him of stopping the work of the government but the truth is that the work of the projects has stopped because the MDP government has not paid the contractors. The government has handed over the money to the contractors and resumed work on the projects, he said.
