Arrangements have been made to collect Fitr Zakat with staple foods, Ministry of Islamic Affairs has said.

According to an announcement by the Ministry, the public will be able to pay Fitr Zakat with staple foods like every other year. The Ministry said that the amount payable will be 2.4kg per head from any staple food usually consumed in the household.

Fitr Zakat will be accepted from Aminiya School Hall in Male' City. Islamic Ministry urged the public to use the gate on Lily Magu to go make Zakat payments.

Islamic Ministry said that the staple food accepted as Fitr Zakat include parboiled rice, basmati rice, Thai rice, and wheat and atta flour.

Zakat payments will be accepted on a daily basis during weekdays from 1300hrs - 1600hrs. Islamic Ministry said that zakat will be accepted from 1300hrs to 1800hrs on April 9.
