Committee approves appointment of Zakariyya as EC member

The Independent Institutions Committee of the Parliament has approved the appointment of Hassan Zakariyyya, as a member of the Elections Commission.

Zakariyya's name was sent to the Parliament for approval to be appointed as a member of the Election Commission by President Dr Mohammed Muizzu. He replaced Ismail Habib, who was then the EC Vice-President, as his term expired.

The Independent Institutions Committee of Parliament on Thursday approved the appointment of Zakariyya as a member of the EC.

Zakariyya was appointed as the SG of the EC on 18 June.
