Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started investigating an issue related to Rasmale' project.
A media official from ACC told 'One' on Friday that the Commission has received a report regarding the Rasmale' project.
"We are investigating an issue related to the awarding process," the media official said.
MDP has previously accused the Rasmale' project of paving way for corruption. The MDP spokesperson for the parliament election scheduled for April 21, Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ahmed Easa said that Rasmale' is being reclaimed by Sri Lankan company Marine and Civil Construction (CMC) in return for 70 hectares of land from Rasmale' region.
"This is a substantial and shocking amount of corruption, we have been saying this repeatedly," Easa had said.
Easa further said that the lowest rate for land reclamation has been MVR 6,500 per sqft in the Greater Male' Region. He added that a soft of land from Hulhumale' was sold for MVR 10,200 during the MDP tenure.
Rasmale' project was awarded to CMC without a bid. HDC had said that the project was awarded to CMC with an agreement to lease 10 hectares of land from Hulhumale' and 70 hectares of land from Rasmale' for 99 years.
