President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced a special allowance for staff who will be working during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

In a circular issued on Thursday night, Finance Ministry stated that the allowance will be given to staff who are required to work to provide essential services during this time. As such, employees designated to work during the period will be decided by the different institutions based on policies set by the institutions.

Finance Ministry has set a policy for the allowances for staff who are required to work during this period.

As such, employees who are not under the pay framework of the state would be paid overtime as per usual. The Ministry stated that the allowance will be half of the daily wages allocated for the employees working on a duty basis to provide essential services.

For employees under the pay framework of the government, the allowance will be according to the policies set by the administration, Finance Ministry said.
