President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers.
President Dr. Muizzu met the MNDF officers at a ceremony held at Kalhuthukkala Koshi on Wednesday night. The ceremony was also attended by Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon and senior officers of MNDF.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the service by MNDF and noted the efforts made to better the services to ensure the sovereignty and independence of the nation.
President Dr. Muizzu, in his speech, stated that the first priority in any service should be to abide by Islam and to uphold the values of Islam. He added that this is the secret to the success of MNDF services is their commitment to upholding Islamic values.
The president stated that he would do all in his power to sort any and all issues faced by MNDF. He added that in a globalised world, the responsibility of ensuring independence and sovereignty of the country falls on the security forces. As such, he stated that the administration will make efforts to ensure all MNDF officers are tech savvy and undergo the required training to make them the best at their duties.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Ghassan stated that MNDf will ensure the independence and sovereignty of the nation and defend the red lines drawn by President Dr. Muizzu. He highlighted the efforts by the president in acquiring UAV's for the newly inaugurated Air Corps, adding that it signifies the priority the president places on the security of the nation.
Minister Ghassan also noted the efforts being made to train MNDF officers as well as provide better welfare for the officers.
He thanked the MNDF officers for their efforts in ensuring the independence and sovereignty of Maldives.
