The Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has announced that it will arrange for customers to pay their outstanding water bills in installments.

The government on Sunday decided to waive penalties for households who have not paid their water and electricity bills for a long time.

The decision will waive the penalties accrued until last year, but the penalties will be waived after the bills are paid. Payments for the unpaid bills can be made till the end of the year.

In a press release issued today, the MWSC said that they will introduce an option to pay the outstanding bills in monthly installments under an agreement with the company.

Such customers will also be eligible for a waived penalty upon the completion of the payment of unpaid bills as per the agreement.
