President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent the names of Dr. Fazeel Najib as the Maldivian Ambassador to China and Shiuneen Rasheed as the Maldivian Ambassador to Bangladesh for parliamentary approval.

The names of the two were referred to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament for further consideration.

Earlier, Dr. Fazeel has held senior positions in various governments. These include the Governor of the MMA and the State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He also holds a Masters Degree in International Business Law from the UK. Fazeel held various positions in the Ministry of Trade from 1987 to 2004.

Shiuneen has also served in the foreign service in the past.
