President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has waived the fines on electricity and water bills for households.
In a post on X today, the President said that as part of the government's measures to improve the financial condition of the general public, he has asked the companies concerned to waive the long-standing penalty for non-payment of electricity and water bills of households at domestic rates.
He added that the administration has also asked the companies to enter into an agreement so that the unpaid dues can be cleared in an easier manner.
Speaking to the people of Eydhafushi as part of the President's visit to the islands of B. Atoll on March 3, the President said that the electricity and water bills will remain the same as in other months during the month of Ramadan and the bill will not be higher than that.
