Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has gifted dated to the Maldives.

According to a post posted by the Islamic Ministry's X account, the agreement to receive the dates was signed by The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on behalf of the Government of Maldives.

Saudi Arabia has gifted 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives every year during the month of Ramadan.

Last year, dates were first distributed to those in the poverty line, followed by one packet of dates per household.

However, the Ministry has not yet specified how the dates will be distributed this year.
