The work was already being carried out by china's CCCC, which was developed at a cost of $200 million under Chinese grants and loans, and was used in 2018 and was carried out by CCCC from 2018 to 2020.

Later in the year, STELCO also temporarily carried out repair work on the bridge, but STELCO took over the repair work of the gate at the bridge entrance.
