Six more schools should be built in Hulhumale' to ensure that children receive proper education. Education Minister Ismail Shafeeu said.

The minister was responding to a question by Hulhumale MP Ali Niyaz on how many more schools would be needed to educate the children living in the second phase of Hulhumale. Ali Niyaz claimed that the city needed 14 more schools.

The minister said the work of the school, which was awarded to RCC for construction in Phase Two of Hulhumale during the last government, is now underway. However, the minister said that six more schools are needed to ensure that the children in Phase One and Phase Two of Hulhumale get an education.

He also questioned regarding the issue of two sessions being conducted at Salahuddin School, the only school in the second phase of the city.

The minister said it was not done easily and it was something the ministry had to do.

While the government wants to make schools conduct one single session, it is the responsibility of the state to provide education from where the child lives, and hence the option of two sessions had to be implemented.

The minister said the single session of schools would not only improve the health of teachers but also provide relief to parents. It will also provide education in a comprehensive system, he said.

However, the minister said that four schools are needed for phase two and two schools for phase one to ensure education for the children living in the city.
