President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the installation of additional lifts in the Hiyaa flats will be completed within a year.

Replying to a question during 'Raees ge Javaabu' programme he said it was his commitment to install lifts in the Hiyaa flat. President Dr. Muizzu said that an agreement has been reached with a company to install lifts in the Hiyaa towers, and that two lifts will be installed in each tower.

"The design work has been completed and the advance payment will be made by the government soon. As per the agreement, once the advance payment has been made, the physical work has to be mobilised within a month of payment. But I'm going to push harder to start much sooner than that. It is quite a number of lifts, two in each tower, but the administration will push to finish this soon," he said.

He added that the construction of lifts will be mobilised in the Hiyaa towers next month.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had previously pledged to install additional lifts in all the towers of the Hiyaa flats, for which MVR 200 million has also been allocated in this year's budget.

Last month, Chinese firm Shenyang Yuanda Intellectual Group was entrusted with the task of installing more lifts in the Hiyaa flats.
