A system outage at McDonald's outlets across Asia including Singapore, Japan and China has left stores unable to accept orders or resort to taking orders on pen and paper.

A McDonald's spokesperson said that the company was aware of a technology outage impacting its restaurants and that the issue was being resolved, adding that the outage was not related to a "cybersecurity event".

According to CNA, self-service kiosks have suffered a complete blackout in Singapore and online orders have not gone through either.

As such, multiple customers have been turned away at Singaporean outlets since Friday evening.
