Civil Court has ordered Dhuvaafaru MP Ismail Ahmed to pay a loan of MVR 800,000 owed to a private company.

This case pertains to an agreement under which the Ministry of Education awarded the construction of three classrooms of Th. Kandoodhoo School to a company owned by Member Ismail Ahmed. The work was sub-contracted in 2018 to H. Valanju, Moosa Khalil.

According to the complaint filed by Moosa Khalil with the Civil Court, the work done with his personal equipment and the value of the items was MVR 1,281,830, but MP Ismail paid only MVR 42,500.

On February 29, the Civil Court had ordered MP Ismail Ahmed to pay MVR 856,830 to Moosa Khalil within 15 days after he failed to submit the application within the stipulated time period to defend himself from the charges.

Since the verdict was delivered in absentia, there will be an opportunity to review the verdict.
