President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has urged the people of the Maldives not to tarnish the society with untrue lies during this holy month of Ramadan.

In his address on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the President said it is important to further strengthen the habit of doing good to each other as Ramadan is a month of goodness in every way.

"The government took the lead in this regard. The problem of fishermen not getting money for their catch was solved before Ramadan. The difficulties encountered in airlifting the sick in emergencies were also solved. Steps have been taken to relieve the traffic flow of the city as well. And the donations by the government to each household is also to encourage the habit of strengthening good relationships and habits," he said.

The President said that the month of Ramadan has shown an unprecedented example of helping each other. He asked the people of Maldives to pray for the victory of the Palestinians in their struggle for freedom and Islam.

He has also extended his warmest felicitations and sincere good wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives to the Governments and the Muslim brothers and sisters of Islamic countries, on the commencement of Ramadan 1445.
