The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had released the new land use plan for Gulagifalhu on February 23.

According to the plan, the administration has earmarked a large area for land and social housing.

Land has also been earmarked for providing basic amenities to the people living in Gulhifalhu, as well as for parks and playgrounds, as well as for economic activities. Land has been reserved for industrial activities and the development of city hotels.

Land has also been earmarked for wholesale and retail trade.

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration had issued land to the people of Male' under the 'Binveriyaa' scheme.

The present government has decided to reclaim land beyond what was decided by the previous government and give houses and flats to more people as well.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had earlier stated that his government aims to give up 3,500 houses and build 8,700 three- and four-room housing units.
