President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the land reclamation work in Felidhoo will be completed within this year.

Speaking to the people of Felidhoo island as part of the President's visit to the islands of V. Atoll yesterday evening, the President said that the speed and delay in initiating the land reclamation project depends on the budget availability.

"Sometimes projects need to be delayed a little. Secondly, this effort to generate revenue also defends the growth it makes. In any case, our goal is to complete the project within this year and we will do it accordingly. And developmental works will follow," he said.

The President said that the government would start the work by recruiting people after completing the work in collaboration with the council and the ministry. He said that land should be acquired to solve the housing problem in Felidhoo.

"Either way, we have submitted projects to fulfil a lot of promises. The land reclamation in the island has been included, but only a small amount of money has been earmarked. This is a promise I made and the most important thing for this island to solve the issues you face," he said.

The President further said that priority would be given to resolving the housing crisis in Felidhoo as the land reclamation project is the most important thing to be done.
