The Election Commission (EC) has released the list of eligible voters for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for late April.

The Election Commission yesterday said that the opportunity to submit complaints against the list of eligible voters has been opened until 15:00 pm on Thursday.

Complaints will be accepted from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Dharubaaruge Election Centre, Island Councils and City Councils.

The Election Commission had earlier scheduled the parliamentary elections for the 17th of this month. However, the election has now been postponed to April 21.

The list of people added to the eligible voters registry released by the Election Commission includes 560 people aged 18 from March 17 to April 21.

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to postpone the parliamentary elections after the Parliament moved a resolution and passed a Bill to hold the election within ten days after the month of Ramadan ends.

President Mohamed Muizzu ratified the Bill on February 29th.

President Muizzu who is on a visit to the Raa and Baa Atoll, said the parliamentary elections should be held on 21st of next month due to the amendment to the Election Act passed by the Parliament.
