Home Ministry said on Monday that the backlog of the Department of National Registration (DNR) has been cleared.

The Ministry told the medias that now that the backlog has been cleared, people will now be able to get the ID card within 24 hours of submission.

" As of February 29, 2024, the pending backlog of ID cards have been cleared. If there is no problem with the application form for making ID, the person will be able to get the ID card within 24 hours," Home Ministry said.

The Ministry also said that the problem with the DNR portal will be resolved soon.

On February 27, the DNR had announced that ID card issuance services will be provided on three days during the last ten days of Ramadan. As such, ID cards will be issued from 0914-1130hrs on April 1, 3 and 8.

The ID cards will be issued only after the number is taken from 'QueueBee' and a total of 150 numbers will be issued on all three days, the DNR said.

DNR said that customers can send someone else to collect the ID on their behalf along with a letter, and in case of emergencies, people can call DNR's hotline on 7280368.
