President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that electricity and water bills will not be high during Ramadan.

Speaking to the people of Eydhafushi island as part of the President's visit to the islands of B. Atoll this evening, the President said that the electricity and water bills are usually very high during Ramadan, but charges won't surge this time.

"It's capped at the same rate in a normal month, which means it won't go beyond that. I have asked FENAKA, STELCO and MWSC to ensure this and all the three companies have assured me of it," he said.

"I have asked STELCO MD to abolish the charge in the six islands they provide water to. STELCO will make the announcement soon," President Dr. Muizzu said.

He further said that he finds great happiness in easing burdens faced by the public as people are in dire straits due to the economic situation of the country at present.
