Seven people have been arrested so far in connection with the attack on Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, police said.

According to the police, all the seven accused were locals.

"They were arrested on different days on the orders of the court and produced before a local court which remanded them to judicial custody," police said.

On January 31, Shamim was attacked by two motorcycle-borne assailants, who attacked him with a machete, the PG office said.

According to the police, the attack was premeditated and the assailants were with their faces covered.
