President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared Maaddoo as a part of B. Eydhafushi.

The President made the announcement during his visit to the islands of B. Atoll.

The President said that the land in Eydhafushi has been acquired and if more land is needed, it would be necessary to find an island. He had previously mentioned Maaddoo during the presidential campaign.

"I would like to announce that we have appointed Maaddoo as part of Eydhafushi. We will hand over the documents to the council this week. The council will then have to plan housing, infrastructure development and everything that should be done in collaboration with the council and the government," he said.

The President said that the people will ask him to fulfill a promise with the confidence that he will be able to fulfill it, adding that he will not relent on a promise, and that Eydhafushi will be developed as an urban centre.
