Raa Atoll Ungoofaaru has been included in the list of islands being developed as Urban Centers by the government.

President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, who is currently on a visit to the province, said that he has promised to develop urban centers in seven areas of the country.

The President said that one of the biggest problems facing Ungoofaaru is housing and this government will bring a solution to that problem as well.

The President said that even if the land of Ungoofaaru is dredged, there will be a shortage of land for various economic activities. Hence, Ungulu would be made available for Ungoofaaru.

Noting that Ungoofaaru is an island where people come and go for various purposes, the President said that Ungoofaaru is an important island even from a consolidation point of view.
