Air Ambulance service has been launched in the Maldives.

Health Ministry said the air ambulance service is being offered with 15 people who have been trained for early treatment with all the necessary facilities, including doctors, nurses and emergency medical technicians.

"Air Ambulance services will be operational from today and the main focus of this initiative is to establish air ambulance services in the country in a robust and sustainable manner," the Health Ministry said in a statement.

According to the Ministry of Health, air ambulance services will be made available to all parts of the Maldives round-the-clock.

The air ambulance service will be provided jointly by the Health Ministry, Island Aviation Services and NSPA.

The DHC-8-200 aircraft, which are used to provide air ambulance services, arrived in the Maldives last night.
