Maldives' national airline Maldivian has announced plans to resume flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Maldivian held flights to Sri Lanka's Rathmalane Airport in 2022 as well. However, a week into operation, the service was ceased citing lack of demand.
Island Aviation Services Limited, which operates The Maldives, said in a statement that flights to Colombo will resume from April 25.
When contacted, Maldives Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said it has been a long wait for the airline to start flights to Colombo to facilitate business and holidays between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
"This is a testament to our efforts to expand our international network and connect the maldives and the world. We would like to thank all the people and participants who helped us start this new route," Iyas said.
There will be two weekly flights from Colombo to Male' and flights will be held on Thursday and Saturday, and booking slots are open from today.
