President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged many projects for Shaviyani Funadhoo, stating that numerous work need to be done to develop the island.
The President, who is on a tour of the northern islands, said he would fulfill the promises made during the presidential election campaign for the development of the island.
The President said the hospital development project in Funadhoo would be his top priority. He said he would work to improve the quality of service in all senses in terms of services, buildings, and number of employees.
"There are many such things, to increase the capacity of the airport, to improve the service of the airport, to increase the number of flights. Things like extending the runway to land flights. Will develop and expand this airport as the residents want," he said.
The President has also said that he will implement eco-tourism and tourism projects in the uninhabited islands to further expand tourism in the Atoll. The airport and tourism projects will be carried out together, he said.
Pledges made for Funadhoo:
- Land reclamation
- Construction of all roads at a good level
- Establish additional facilities for playing sports
- Increase school space and improve services
- Accelerate the port development work
