MIFCO has said that it has released MVR 105 million for unpaid bills till January 14 out of the amount that the government owes after buying fish from fishermen.

MIFCO Media Officer Ahmed Nawaz Rasheed told One today that MVR 35 million was paid for the pending bills between January 8 and January 14. A total of MVR 105 million, including MVR 70 million paid last week, has been released to the fishermen.

Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam told One on Wednesday that MVR 100 million would be released to fishermen by yesterday.

The minister said that the funds were arranged by the state through two subsidy finances in addition to some of the funds available to MIFCO.
