The Housing Ministry has said that 8,250 people have signed land agreements and received their registration under the 'Binveriyaa Scheme' implemented by the previous government.

The land was allocated in Hulhumale Phase Two, newly dredged Hulhumale Phase 3 and Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu. A total of 9,000 plots were to be given.

Sharing details of the progress made so far, the Housing Ministry said 8,250 people have signed agreements and received their registry while 212 people are in the process of signing agreements.

In addition, 118 people have been handed over land acquisition certificates while 303 people have not been handed over land acquisition certificates.

According to the ministry, with 16 applications were left unsigned as they decided to give up the land, and 12 were left unsigned due to death.

In addition, 120 landowners could not sign the agreement due to further considerations. They did not say what the reasons were for not signing with them.

The ministry said those who have not signed the agreements and handed over the registry will be contacted to hand over the land acquisition certificate.
