President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to set up a committee with public confidence to look into the issues related to the flats allocated under the "Gedhoruveriyaa" Scheme.
The President said the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had taken a decision on the 4,000 flats awarded by the previous government and informed the Housing Ministry.
"Then instead of just checking by being employees across the ministry, we have now decided to set up a committee that will include trusted figures accepted by people within the community. It is being done to gain public confidence and make sure that it's not being done just within the government. The decision of ACC will be reviewed by such a committee," he said.
The President said the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has not yet received access to the portal. Therefore, the list of eligible and ineligible persons for the flat cannot be reviewed, he said.
He said the government wants to make public the list of those who have not received the flats but it has not been able to do so due to lack of portal access.
