President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has indicated that the government is considering building a domestic airport near GA. Kolamafushi.

The President, who arrived in Kolamafushi today as part of his visit to the Atoll, said that he met with the Kolamafushi Council and explained the problems faced by the island's people for the development of the island.

President Dr. Muizzu said that an integrated tourism project would be carried out in the lagoon of the island as promised earlier and the city hotel project would also be made a reality.

"If that happens, it will also bring air connectivity to the area naturally. We signed the agreement on the development of the international airport and tourism development project of the region in Villingili today. At the same time, I would like to say that the development of a domestic airport in the region will be a reality," he said.

Pointing out that a number of projects need to be taken up for the development of the island, the President said that the biggest project is land reclamation project. A small amount has been allocated in the budget for this purpose, adding that the project will be started within this year.

He also said that changes and development of the port will be made as per the needs of the people and the electricity system of the island will also be improved.

He said he was confident that all the promises made by taking development to the people's desired goal would be fulfilled, but it could only be done with a majority in parliament.

He said that if he does not get a majority in the Parliament, it will be difficult to implement development projects as it is not required by any citizen and as the person entrusted with the responsibility of the people is just a few days away, the people should think about it.
