President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to carry out major projects this year.
Speaking to the people of Dhandhoo this evening as part of the President's visit to the southern islands, the President said that with the vision of sustainable development, the Administration will pay attention to the issues raised by Dhandhoo citizens as well.
"In the coming days, we will take up such big projects as much as the budget allows. And if private sector investment comes in it would be easier to start projects. The administration will work on big projects but at the same time also attend to smaller projects. I give you this assurance," he said.
President Dr. Muizzu said the Dhandhoo Council had mentioned 28 things to be done in the island, some of which were included in the budget, but the budget specified for these were significantly low.
"We will start many of these things this year by streamlining our work from the budget. And in cases where there is no space in the budget, one way is to work on what can be done through private sector finance. If not, we will look into including it in next year's budget," he said.
The President further said that all the needs of the people of Dhandhoo will be addressed by sorting out various other issues, adding that the priority will be given to the most important issues.
