Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that the people should not allow anyone to disrupt and overthrow the government of President Dr Mohammed Muizzu.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the residents of Gaafu Alif Villingili as part of his ongoing tour of the South. Speaking at the meeting, Shaheem said that people inside and outside of the Maldives are trying to overthrow President Muizzu's government.

"This shows that the current government in the Maldives is a government of the people. It is not a government of foreigners. Because it is not a government of foreigners, they are trying to drive this government bankrupt. The people should not let it happen," he said.

The people of Villingili have a great stake in bringing about this government and President Muizzu has the greatest confidence in Villingili, he said. Therefore, the people of Villingili should work to maintain the government as it was brought, he said.

Shaheem said President Muizzu took over the government at a time when the Maldivian economy and independence were in a very fragile situation. President Muizzu has done a lot of work to save the country from these things in the past few days, he said.
