Belgian company NV Beeks has been awarded the contract to build an international airport in Gaafu Alif Villingili.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the residents of the island today, as part of his ongoing tour of the South. The company was awarded the contract for the construction of an international airport in Villingili during the meeting.
Construction and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldivian government. Business Development Manager Savi Dolmans signed on behalf of the company.
During his campaign trail, the President pledged to make GDh. Kaadeddhoo Airport international, and to build an international airport in the lagoon near Villingilli.
An international airport is being built in Villingili under the Integrated Tourism Project. President Muizzu has said that 10,000 tourist beds will be established in Huvadhoo Atoll with an integrated tourism project in Villingili.
