President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the Administration will work on reducing the charge for surf boards on the national airline, Maldives.
In a series of government-aired "Raees ge Javaabu" programme, a youth from Huvadhoo Atoll expressed concern over the high price charged by Maldivian for surf boards. The President was asked if he intended to address the issue of Maldivian charging up to USD 800 for flights to Kaddhoo inclusive of surf boards.
Replying to a question, he said that it was a big issue for surfing workers and pointed out that Kaddhoo was at the forefront of surfing.
"I will work on finding a solution for this issue. This is a high charge for a surf board. The Administration will discuss the issue and come up with a better solution. We will reduce the price as much as possible," he said.
Tourists visiting the Maldives include surfers and Huvadhoo Atoll is one of the atolls they usually visit.
